William Oestreich Obituary

William “Bill” H. Oestreich, 87, Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Mount Nittany Memorial Hospital, State College, after a brief illness.

Born June 6, 1939, in Logan Township, he was the son of the late Bertha (Taylor) and John C. Oestreich II. He was united in marriage to Lois Shields Feb. 15, 1969, at the First Baptist Church, Huntingdon. His wife of 57 years survives.

In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, William M. Sr., wife Tracey; daughter, Christine Clevenger, husband Terry, Huntingdon; and Adam Oestreich, companion Kimberly, Baltimore, Maryland; and by grandchildren, Elicia Boran, Kayla Knable, William M. Oestreich Jr., Trevor Oestreich, Carrie Oestreich, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian McMahon, Shirley Lightner, Bonnie Eckley and Jewell Dysard; a brother, John Oestreich; and a granddaughter, Karra Clevenger. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Oestreich was a member of the Ardenheim Independent Brethren Church.

Bill was a llfe member of the Huntingdon County Humane Society, Juniata Valley Senior Citizens and the Standing Stone Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Cloyd K. Davis American Legion Post 150, Petersburg, the Petersburg Catering Club and the Standing Stone VFW Post 1754, Huntingdon.

He was a 1958 graduate oof Juniata Valley High School and served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 10 years from 1958 to 1968.

Bill retired from the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon as a maintenance supervisor with 32 years of service. He was always ready to help friends, family and any charitable organization with work that needed done. He was able to build or repair almost anything. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fixing and restoring classic cars. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching deer and turkeys from his back porch.

Bill and his wife enjoyed traveling and had been to almost every state and several foreign countries.

He had lived at his Petersburg residence since 1994 and was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County.

A viewing and visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Cutright Funeral Homes—Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Hughes officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township.

Instead of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Lane, Huntingdon, PA 16652.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cutright Funeral Homes, Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon.
