Stewart Porter Obituary

Stewart Arthur (Stu) Porter, 84, of Alexandria passed away on Monday,
November 10, 2025, at the Penn Highlands Dubois Hospital surrounded by
family.

Born on December 8, 1940, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Merle
(Bill) and Catherine (Moorehead) Porter.

Stewart is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Payne) Porter.
He was the proud father of five daughters: Gina Borst (Steve), Sue Ann
Burkey (Bill), Nicole Giles, Holly Carper (Allan), and Allison Mengel
(Randy).

Stu had 13 grandchildren that loved him dearly: Stevie, Justin,
Stewart, Nathan, Natalie, Raylee, Zoe, Noah, Seth, Heather, Laura,
Tanner, and Eli. Along with 14 wonderful great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Porter; son,
Matthew Stewart; and nephew, Wade Porter. He was a member of the Most
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon and the Knights of
Columbus.

During his life he was employed at Owens Corning Fiberglas at
Huntingdon then Mt. Union as the Production Superintendent.

Stewart was a 1959 graduate of Juniata Valley High School in Alexandria.

As an avid sports enthusiast, Stewart loved watching his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren play all sports. He was the founder of the
men's Juniata Valley Softball League in the 1970s and coached for many
years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and family vacations,
especially to Maine and the beach.

Friends and family will be received at Cutright Funeral Home in
Smithfield on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 6:00-8:00pm and at the
Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon at 10:00am on Tuesday,
November 18, 2025, prior to the memorial mass at 11:00am. Interment will be private, family only. Father Mark Reid is officiating.
