When you think of the word, nostalgia, you can’t help but think of our beloved, Stephanie Hoffmaster. Few people in this world were more nostalgic than she was. Crossing paths with her almost certainly meant playing, at least a quick round, of “remember when.”
Stephanie N Hoffmaster was born on June 27, 1979 at Tyrone hospital and lived the duration of her life in Petersburg with her beloved parents, Galen and Nancy (Cooper) Hoffmaster. She passed peacefully in the evening of November 24th, 2023.
One of Stephanie’s favorite past times was walking along the streets in Petersburg and stopping to reminisce on the good old days with whoever she might bump into. She was, in so many ways, this beautiful, giggly time capsule that just made you smile by pausing the world and revisiting your very best memories each time you saw her.
Stephanie was tiny, even from birth. She could be held, almost in the palm of your hand, as a baby. She was always small, but she was also always mighty. Sometimes weak, but always tough as nails. Mostly calm, but also feisty when she needed to be. She was incredibly kind and caring, but also assertive and often quite stubborn. She found a healthy balance in her life between cracking open an ice-cold Pepsi and yelling at the tv screen, while coaching from the living room during Monday Night Football and then switching gears and doing a little crocheting while watching a Walton’s or Little House on the Prairie marathon on Tuesday. In both cases, you can guarantee she was cozy and snuggled in though. She knew and appreciated the value of being comfortable.
Stephanie was a fighter. She defied the odds again and again. She was considered many times to be a miracle. The gentle and loving impact she had on so many people, though… that was the real miracle.
Stephanie graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1998 and during her time there, she took and excelled in horticulture classes at the Huntingdon County Career & Technology Center. Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandparents Gerald L. Cooper, Sr., Faye Hoffmaster, and James Hoffmaster, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Toto. Her religious faith was so strong, that it’s hard to imagine anything other than these loved ones, as well as so many others, waiting for her upon her divine arrival.
She is survived by her parents, her brother Jamie Hoffmaster, niece Jocelyn Faulkner, nephew Cooper Hoffmaster, and her grandmother Pauline Cooper. While spending time with her family and her friends, Stephanie loved to listen to music. She loved to dance. She loved playing games and doing crafts. She especially loved adult coloring books and would make beautiful drawings. Stephanie loved to laugh and to make other people laugh. Her spirit was so sweet and genuine, and she will be greatly missed by so many of us.
