Robert J “Sparky” Price died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at his residence.
Sparky is a lifelong resident of Huntingdon County. He had resided at 12001 Simon Fox Road, Huntingdon, since 1986.
Sparky is most known in association with Raystown Lake and his longtime fishing accomplishments.
He was the owner-operator of Trophy Guide Service Inc. and the longest running full-time charter service on Raystown Lake. Sparky has held four state record striped bass in his long career and still holds the present-day state record striped bass over 53 pounds. Sparky’s passion to fish competitively has earned him winnings of many local tournaments and a national championship on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky.
Sparky helped develop and create many techniques that have become the standards in today’s angling on Raystown Lake. He was featured in many local and national publications and gave large public seminars. He was a staple on morning radio with an updated fishing report for Froggy 98.
He has always felt deeply rewarded from the intimate relationships developed with the one-on-one experiences from clients in his boat.
Many know him as a very fun-loving person, always in the moment. He enjoyed elevating anyone around him toward a jovial good time. To know him was to have a story shared with laughter.
