Marvin "Wally" Walizer Obituary

Marvin R. “Wally” Walizer Sr., 80, of 11460 Arborvitae Road, Huntingdon, Walker Township, and formerly of Clinton County, went to be with his beloved wife while surround by family Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

Born Jan. 27, 1944, Marvin lived a life defined by dedication, service and love for his family.

A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from February 1964 to February 1974, during which time he courageously completed two tours in Vietnam, exemplifying bravery and commitment to his country. Marvin served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from July 1975 to July 1995, when he retired as master sergeant. He received numerous medals during his military service.

Marvin also retired from Trough Creek Youth Forestry Camp where he made an impact on many lives.

Marvin was a father to Andrew Walker and wife Pam of Moody, Texas, Marvin Walizer Jr. and wife Melissa of Lorena, Texas, Bridgett Lewullis and husband Bill, York, Gregory Walizer and wife Mary, Mill Hall, and Charles Walizer and wife Linda, Mill Hall.

He was also the proudest “Papa” of Shane Hook (Jess), Alexis Bowman (Mike), Danielle Strouse, Nicholas Hook (Nicole), Cindy Seitz (Greg), Carly Crushing (Brent), Gregory Walizer (Morgan), Jessica Bailey (Thomas), Jake Baker, Justin Baker, Andrew Walizer Jr., Crystal Walizer and Austin Walizer and 17 great-grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Walizer who passed in March 2018, a brother Dale Walizer and his sisters Ann Strouse and Donna Dill.

He is survived by Myrtle Hester of Montrose County and Carol Gegret and husband Wayne of Mill Hall.

Marvin’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His steadfast dedication to his country and his unwavering love for his family will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.

Marvin also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was always proud of his watermelons that he grew in his garden and his yard was always pristine.

Friends and family will gather for a memorial service from 11 a.m. to noon today, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Cutright Funeral Homes — Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon. Services will follow at the funeral home at noon Wednesday. Interment will be made privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to veterans’ organizations in his honor.
