Jewell V. McMickens, 86, 3342 Cold Springs Road, Huntingdon, died at 4:13 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024, at her residence in Huntingdon.
Born Feb. 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Henry Marshall and Jennie Glas. She married Rex Edward “Eddie” McMickens in May 1984 at the Bethel AME Church in Mt. Union. Mr. McMickens preceded her in death.
She is survived by two stepchildren, Lowell E. McMickens of Huntingdon and Michelle D. Isenberg of Tunkhannock; a stepson-in-law, Ray Thompson; stepdaughter-in-law Sonja McNeal; sister Clara Foster; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three stepchildren, Michael McNeal, Edwina J. Thompson and Allison L. Morton.
She enjoyed working for the Weis Market in Huntingdon for many years as a cashier.
Jewell was a former member of the AME church in Mount Union. She loved playing the piano in her spare time.
Jewell graduated from Mount Union High School class of 1956.
She was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County. Jewell lived at her Cold Springs Road residence since 1984 and prior to that she resided in Mount Union.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Cutright Funeral Homes —Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation with the Revs. Herman and Sharon Burks officiating.
Private interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.
