Heinz William “Bill” lsern, 16151 Heights Road, Mapleton, died at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Penn Highlands Huntingdon, Huntingdon.
Born April 3, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late William and Hedwig (Gauger) lsern. He married Barbara Elizabeth Clippinger Sept. 20, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland. She survives at their residence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Linda Johansen and Steven lsern and his wife Wendy of all of Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren, Rachel Zoch and her husband Matt and Kate Johansen, all of Baltimore, Maryland, Mindy Mykietyn and her husband Sean of Ashburn, Virginia, and Megan Karcher and her husband Hank of Severna Park, Maryland; five great-grandchildren, Mason Johansen, Ava Martin, Connor Mykietyn, Violet Mykietyn and Hadley Karcher.
Mr. Isern retired after working for 36 years as an elevator builder mechanic for General Elevator in Linthicum, Maryland.
Bill was a member of the Bowman’s Chapel Church, NRA and the Corvair Car Club of America Association. He loved antique cars.
Bill graduated from Polly Tech High School, Baltimore, Maryland.
Bill served in the United States Navy.
He has been a resident of Huntingdon County and at his current residence for the past 30 years. Prior to that, he resided in Baltimore.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Cutright Funeral Homes — Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. immediately following the visitation with the Rev. Joe Fleck officiating. Private interment will be made in Lorraine Park Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. Full military honors will be accorded after the service at the funeral home.
